About Moranhat

Moranhat town is situated in Sibsagar district in Assam. It is located in the eastern part of Upper Assam. It derives its name from the Moran tribe. This is a peaceful town which is surrounded by tea gardens, oil fields, and villages. Moranhat is famous for the tea gardens located here.

An average of 55% males and 45% females constitutes of the total population of Moranhat. 78% people of Moranhat are litter, higher than the national average of 59.5%, including 80% males and 77% females. Assamese, Bengalis, Christians, Sikh, Marwari’s, Bhojpuri’s, and Tamilians are some of the major communities of Moranhat. Teaching, agriculture, farming and small-scale business are the occupations of the people of Moranhat.

How to reach Moranhat

The National Highway 37 passes through the town. Peoples use private bus, government bus and other vehicles for transport in Moranhat. The Moranhat Railway Station and the Mohanbari Airport are located near the town.
